Fluoride Treatment Aftercare
Fluoride helps strengthen teeth, prevent cavities, and reduce sensitivity. Depending on your needs, it may be applied as a gel or as a varnish
Do not eat, drink, or rinse for 30 minutes.
Avoid hot drinks, acidic foods (citrus, soda), and alcohol for the next few hours.
Resume normal brushing and flossing after 30 minutes.
Varnish needs to stay on teeth for 4–6 hours.
First 2 hours: Only drink cold beverages and eat cold, soft foods.
Avoid alcoholic drinks.
Do not brush or floss for at least 4 hours (if applied late in the day, wait until next morning).
Varnish may feel sticky, rough, or “spotty.” It may flake — this is normal.
After 4–6 hours, brush and floss normally to remove the excess.
Teeth may feel smooth, sticky, or coated for a few hours.
White/yellow spots on teeth are temporary and will disappear after brushing.
Some patients feel less tooth sensitivity.
Fluoride treatment is repeated every 6–12 months (or 3–6 months if high risk: braces, dry mouth, frequent snacking).
Maintain daily oral care
